The Smallest Gent. Paper-cut Bee Hummingbird Sculpture. 1:1 Scale
£100.00
The Bee Hummingbird is the smallest living bird on Earth.
During mating season the male grows his 'breeding plumage'; bright red, iridescent feathers around his head and neck in order to attract a mate.
Once the season is over he sheds his breeding plumage, returning to an iridescent blue/green colouring.
This 1:1 scale paper sculpture shows a male in breeding plumage.
I have cut and sculpted the bird by hand and painted the card with iridescent acrylic paint, he is mounted on brass wire and encased inside a glass bell jar with a hand stained wooden base.
The piece measures 12cm in diameter (base) 11cm in diameter (glass) and is 17cm tall.
Cruelty free taxidermy.
Not suitable for children.
